Helena Secrest '26
I am Helena Secrest, a senior at Lake Forest Academy in Lake Forest, IL. I plan on continuing my education at Northeastern University in Boston with a major in Architecture and English.
My Story
I grew up in a low-income town on the border of Illinois and Wisconsin. My family has always placed a large emphasis on supporting small businesses, finding our favorite hole-in-the-wall restaurants to grub on. As I got older, I watched as many of these beloved spots closed down and were replaced with owners who had never spent time in the community at all. This phenomenon piqued my interest and alongside my interest in architectural design, I decided to further my research through this project.
